Licensed Master Social Worker

Karmen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in African American Studies and has gained extensive experience through her Master's degree in Social Work. Over the past decade, she has dedicated herself to non-profits and organizations, where she has coordinated and led employment readiness and life skill training for various populations. Additionally, Karmen has provided psychotherapy for youth involved with juvenile justice and DCF, as well as for reentry adults.

She employs Motivational Interviewing along with evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Problem-Solving Therapy. Karmen has also facilitated both individual and group therapy sessions for individuals facing physical disabilities and a range of social, emotional, and psychiatric challenges. Her multifaceted expertise illustrates her commitment to fostering resilience and promoting positive outcomes for her clients.

Karmen's background is marked by a rich diversity, with a concentrated effort on serving disenfranchised and underserved communities of color. For over two decades, she has been profoundly committed to uplifting and sustaining these troubled communities across various dimensions—emotional, financial, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Her passion lies in utilizing education and therapeutic practices to empower both youth and adults to discover their true potential.
